Robert James Labrum

HUDSON FALLS-Robert James Labrum, 70, of North Street, surrendered his soul, peacefully to the heavenly Father, Saturday, March 17, 2012, at his home, with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born Feb. 25, 1942, he was son of Lynwood and Madeline (Baker) Labrum.  Robert graduated in 1960 from Glens Falls High School. After graduating, Robert joined the U.S. Navy where he served for two years. Following an honorable discharge in 1962, he married his sweetheart, Sandra Brown.  He was predeceased by his father and favorite grandmother, Mary Church, who raised him.  Robert retired after 27 years with the NYS Department of Corrections. He continued his security career through 2011, working for various security agencies.

Bob loved bowling and he held several offices in many local area leagues. He was also instrumental in forming Chapter 80 of the Eastern  Regional 700 Club. He organized several trips to the National 700 Club tournaments and attended them through 2011.  Bob also enjoyed pitching horseshoes in the Moreau Horseshoe Club. He always looked forward to attending horseshoe tournaments. On any given day you would be sure to see Bob at Stewart’s or at the Corner Diner, enjoying the company of all his friends and acquaintances in Hudson Falls.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Sandra, whom he enabled to be a passionate stay-at-home mom, grandmother and great-grandmother; his daughter, Roberta Labrum; his two sons, Philip Labrum and his wife, Charity, and Alex Labrum and his wife, Pam; 10 grandchildren, Lacey, Sara, Zachary, Dakota, Philip, Brittney, Jacob, Christopher, Jared, and Brandon; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, Danielle, Lily, Ayeden, and Noah; his father-in-law, Philip Brown, who is 100 years old, of Bolton Landing; and his two brothers-in-law, Donald Brown and Harold Brown and his wife, Sherylee, of Bolton Landing. Missing Bob will be his two canine companions, Miss Lily and Bessie, (who laid by his feet long after his death).  Due to immeasurable grief, private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family.
