A Note from Youth Director, John Kassay
My name is John Kassay and, as of the Spring Meeting on April 27 2025, I have taken over the role of Youth Director. I take these duties seriously and as critical to the future of our sport.
Horseshoe’s has traditionally been a sport handed down generation to generation by Grandparents, Parents, Aunts and Uncles to their younger counterparts beginning as early as 8 years of age. We must have skipped a generation or two, because participation in the sport has been dwindling over the past few decades.
It will be my focus to reach as many of these young folks as possible and introduce them to the game. My first outing is already scheduled as a Beginners Clinic, for ages 8 to 13, in conjunction with the Town of Neversink Parks and Recreation Summer Day Camp, the week of 7 July. We’ll see how that goes.
Further, I recognize there are not many ‘Soccer Moms’ who will be willing to transport their Son or Daughter 3 hours or better to an all day Sanctioned Tournament, so my focus here will be getting pits, equipment and interest into backyards.
