The New York State Horseshoe Pitchers Association is a division of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association.
The NYSHPA strives to further the sport of horseshoe pitching by encouraging participation in the sport as a means of recreation to promote the physical fitness of all participants. Horseshoe pitching is an opportunity to participate in an economical competitive sport.
The Association is made up of people that reside within the geographical limits of the State of New York. No-one is denied participation because of sex, race, creed, color or religious beliefs.
Divisions are established to group pitchers with similar characteristics (e.g, age, sex, physical limitations). Within the divisions, classes are established to provide challenging competition between participants of similar skill levels. The degree of a member’s pitching skill determines the class within which he/she pitches in.
Clubs and courts throughout the state provide the opportunity to practice pitching as well as participate in leagues and tournaments. An annual statewide tournament is conducted to produce a recognized champion for the State of New York in all the various classes set forth by the Association.
